RJA Activities:

  • Rehearsals including, stage combat, scansion and line interpretation, character development, staging.
  • Weekly classes taught by members of the Kingsmen Festival company including classes in:
    • Scansion of Shakespeare’s language
    • Stage Combat
    • Improvisation
    • Voice and Movement for Shakespearean acting
    • Advanced acting techniques
  • Participation in Festival Activities
  • Nightly performances of original work for kids and adults in “Will’s Corner”
  • Audition, rehearse and performance of a Shakespeare Play (TBD)
  • Support of Festival activities (ushering, stuffing programs, refreshment sales, fundraising)
  • Interaction with professional company members

The RJA program will begin with an introductory meeting and auditions on Saturday, June 3, from 5 - 9 p.m. on the Cal Lutheran campus (exact location TBA). Classes/rehearsals will begin Sat, June 10, with a flexible (but full) schedule from then on (4-6 days a week for 3-4 hours day).  Festival performance dates are weekends beginning June 30 through August 6 (Jr's will be performing at Will's Corner before every Kingsmen performance), with the Jr Apprentices performing their own ninety-minute version of The Merchant of Venice at 6:30 p.m. on July 27 and Aug 3 and 11:00 a.m. on July 29 and Aug 5. Conflicts (including family vacations) will be considered in casting the RJA company.  (NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR: Even if you think your conflicts may be too extreme, contact me and we can talk, because we may be able to make it work.  If you want to be here, I want you to be here. - Andy)
